Giant Agility

greatpyreneesdogwalkColossal canines are great to watch as they plow around the course with little apparent effort and awkward grace.

Giant breeds age sooner than their smaller cousins, and need very careful handling in agility.  A fall off a contact for them can do very serious damage, and while they look indestructible, they’re anything but.  Also, tires and tunnels can feel very small to them! That’s no reason to not enjoy your big buddy and to have fun doing agility- it just means you need to be aware of your dogs’ limitations, because often, they are NOT!  Many giant breeds in many organizations enjoy early entry into the ‘veterans’ or ‘preferred’ classes, with lower jump heights and a few extra seconds.  For a giants’ safety and health, it’s probably best to enter these classes.
